Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is an incredible example of this type of overcoat. While it does look American wool that's because it is. The USSR would suffer from severe fabric shortages for making everything from uniforms to seat covers during the war. Because of this, and particularly in the case of uniforms, a wide array of material would be used. This could range from cotton twill, wool, or gabardine. Along with Soviet produced materials, under the lend-lease program, large amounts of materials were sent from the other allied nations, and any large amounts of material captured from the retreating Axis armies would also be quickly utilized. This resulted in the army wearing a uniform that was hardly close to uniform, with colors ranging from khaki and olive drab, to grays, blacks, and blues.

In this case, the wool used for the construction of the coat originated from the United States. The greatcoat itself does not appear to have ever been worn and if it was you can’t tell! This is one of the best examples of a greatcoat we have seen. The interior retains faint, but mostly legible markings, one of which is a 1941 date. All buttons are present with all stitching still firmly in place.

Comes more than ready for further research and display.
